One of our favorite places to see music in Portland is the Laurelthirst Public House. It is ground zero for booty-shakin, beer-swillin, local roots rock in Ptown. The daily happy hour from 6-8 pm is great way to start an evening, and/or the perfect way to get your music fix and still get home to put the kids to bed. And the best part is its free!
Lewi Longmire is a local legend and one of the hardest working musicians in Portland. He has recorded 42 albums both on his own and as part of other groups. By his own admission he played 282 shows in 2003. That is the definition of a working musician. He plays keyboards in some bands, bass guitar in others, but its his amazing Fender stratocaster guitar tone that first caught our ear and made us instant fans. Lewi's weekly happy hour set on Thursday evenings quickly became part of our weekly schedule.
To fully understand Lewi's place in the Portland music scene check out this "Family Tree" courtesy of Willamette Week.
