Calexico Releases Album Teaser

Tucson's Calexico will release their 6th  record Carried to Dust on September 9th.  Cofounders Joey Burns and John Convertino once again called upon on a varied cast of musicians to create a record which they are calling "arguable their most varied and strongest work to date".  Carried to Dust features the same core lineup that played on Feast of Wire  (Paul Niehaus, Jacob Valenzuela, Martin Wenk, Volker Zander), along with a number of guests, including Sam Beam, Douglas McCombs, and Pieta Brown.  

     

We have always loved Calexico's unique mix of  the traditional sounds of Mexico and the Southwestern United States with the indie rock feel.   The first track from Feast of Wire entitled "Two Silver Trees" features Burns ethereal vocals and a nice arrangement typical of Calexico's sound and has us looking forward to hearing more in September.   

Calexico will return to the Crystal Ballroom on September 27th on what is shaping up to be an evening with quite a packed schedule with My Morning Jacket at Edgefield and The Cold War Kids at the Wonder Ballroom.   Decisions, Decisions.
